A Regency gentleman’s waistcoat of fine white cotton decorated with silver embroidery. The waistcoat has a high stand collar. The front pockets are purely decorative; they feature motifs of tiny flaming hearts, symbolising passion and devotion. The waistcoat fastens with covered buttons. The back is made of linen; sadly, there is some rust staining to the back lining, and inside the front facing, there is also some discolouration around the back of the collar. This aside, the waistcoat is in good condition for its age. This is a lovely example of early 19th-century men’s clothing and displays beautifully.
