SOLD

A rare 18th century embroidered linen apron circa 1770

The apron is a made of very fine white linen. It is embroidered with large floral springs and has a scalloped edge trimmed with lace. The fullness is gathered into a linen tape which ties at the back of the waist. The apron would have formed an essential component of an 18th century ladies wardrobe. Perfect to display with an 18th century gown, the apron is large enough to fill the void of a petticoat at the front of an open robe, it measures 130cm in width and 90cm in length.

The condition is very good for its age. There is some faint small stains but generally it’s clean and very white. There are some small holes and old mends. Unaltered, beautifully skilled 18th century construction, this really is a beautifully rare find.
